BREAKING – USAID in Afghanistan Accused of Waste, Mismanagement of $70 Million Agricultural Grant

The Office of Special Inspector General for Reconstruction of Afghanistan (SIGAR) on Thursday June 27, 2013 released a report which accuses the US Agency for International Development (USAID) of “Poor Coordination, Waste & Mismanagement” of $70 that was granted by the USAID to the International Relief & Development (IRD) NGO.

In a letter from the SIGAR addressing the US Ambassador to Afghanistan, the Administrator of USAID, and the Acting head of USAID in Afghanistan, SIGAR said that they would like to inform them of “the information obtained as part of the work we did on an agricultural program funded and overseen by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).

The report is written in form of a letter from John F. Sopko, John F. Sopko, The Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) contains information along with photographs & evidence that documenters the accusations to the US Ambassador to Afghanistan, the USAID Administrator, & Acting Head of USAID in Afghanistan.
